Sex Toy Travel July 23, 2011 12:00 am
According to a
recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Transportation Security Agency
(TSA) does not have a specific policy that covers sex toys; its general policy
does address what things you can travel with that fit the profile of some sex
toys.
Traveling with sex toys may be a daunting task, especially
when there is no direct answer as to what will get through security nowadays.
With public security checks of carry-on items and questionable checked baggage
examinations you may be tempted to leave your toys at home. Here are some tips
on how to buy and travel with sex toys.
When purchasing sex toys look for ones that are discrete.
This means if someone were to accidentally stumble on it they wouldn't know it
was a sex toy. Many dildos and probes are shaped to resemble artwork or other
whimsical items. If you don't mind inserting something shaped like a flower,
alien, or a piece of fruit it might be worth buying just so you can travel with
it.
Vibrators are often available in discrete varieties. A lipstick vibrator is one of the most
popular ways to enjoy stimulation without anyone knowing you have a sex toy.
When traveling with one of these toys be sure to take the battery out so that
you do not blow your cover. Unless you plan to use it on the airplane of
course.
If you already have toys that you would like to travel with,
the transportation security agency has recently released some carry on
guidelines that may be helpful. Toys
that are cylinder shaped (dildos, vibrators, and probes) should be less than 12
inches. To be safe, we suggest leaving the toys over 7 inches at home or
placing them in your checked baggage. Handcuffs, whips, and floggers are
allowed to be carried on, but be aware that they may be removed from your bag
and inspected in public. The last but most important reminder is that lubricant
is still a liquid that must comply with the 3-1-1 rule.
You can always check your sex toys, but remember they may be
opened and inspected. If you are shy about your toys, pack discrete toys. You
might also consider the many varieties of Vibrator
Cases. Traveling with sex toys is possible, as long as you plan ahead.
