I was curious about what a pump would do, and took a chance even though there were comments about the handle breaking, etc. Hey, the handle didn't move on mine, and wisely I didn't force it, and just got some pliers and carefully pulled the piston...and it freed up. The vinyl probably stuck to the cylinder during storage/shipping, and so the people who forced the handle probably fractured it. Now, as far as the pump, it did enlarge (temporarily), and I will try it carefully every so often and see what it does. I figure, if I am careful, and don't overdo it, I will encourage circulation and that can't be bad. I do wish the cylinder was longer, because at my almost 7^
